How to Deal with Centrifuge Surge

 

 

Centrifuge surge exclusion:

  1. Condenser fouling: remove fouling on heat transfer surfaces and clean cooling towers. 
  1. Air removal in the system: When the centrifuge uses K11 (ammonia) refrigerant, generally when the liquid temperature exceeds 28℃, it indicates that there is air in the system.

Removal method: start the air extraction and recovery device, discharge the non-condensable gas, and generally pump the pressure of the refrigerant R11 to a slightly lower than the saturation pressure corresponding to the refrigerant liquid temperature, that is, the corresponding pressure below 28℃: below 117.68KMP. 

  1. Surge occurs after startup: perform anti-surge adjustment. When the energy regulation is greatly reduced, the suction volume is in sufficient, that is, the steam cannot flow into the impeller evenly, resulting in a sudden drop in the exhaust pressure, and the compressor is in an unstable working area, resulting in surge.

In order to prevent surge, a part of the compressed steam can be bypassed from the exhaust pipe to the evaporator, which can not only prevent surge, but also benefit when the centrifuge is started: reducing the steam density and the pressure at start-up can reduce the starting power. 

  1. The evaporating pressure is too low: check the cause of the low evaporating pressure, add refrigerant if the refrigerant is insufficient; if the cooling capacity load is small, close the energy regulating blade. 
  1. Surge when stopping: when stopping the centrifuge, pay attention to whether the main motor is reversed, and close the guide vane angle as small as possible to reduce the pressure of the centrifuge exhaust port. 

During the operation of the centrifuge, the condensing pressure and the evaporating pressure should be kept stable, so that the cooling capacity of the centrifuge is higher than the corresponding cooling capacity of the surge point. This can prevent surge.
